Jack Ryder is most known for his role as Jamie in the hit show The EastEnders. He has been active in theater, as well as writing and directing. Before he married, and divorced, singer and actress Kym Marsh he spent some time dating Hannah Spearitt, one of the spunky singers in S Club 7 and one of the stars in S Club 7’s television show.
Jack’s father is Jack Hues from the 80’s hit group Wang Chung.

Continuing Career
After leaving EastEnders in 2003, at age 21, Ryder performed as Justin Timberlake on Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes, which he won. He next appeared at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury in the pantomime Sleeping Beauty. Not long after he was cast in a recurring role on Five’s Family Affairs. He withdrew from his contract when he learned that the series was soon to be cancelled.
In 2004, he played a role in the ITV crime drama series MIT: Murder Investigation Team. That same year he appeared in a play broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
2006 found Ryder starring in the British film production of Popcorn which was subsequently released in the spring of 2007.
Ryder was tagged to become a regular character in the then-new ITV1 daytime series The Royal Today, which is a contemporary spin-off of The Royal, but he withdrew from playing that role.
In 2007, at age 26, Ryder appeared in the stage play The Safari Party by Tim Firth. He also appeared in Kenneth Branagh’s production of The Play What I Wrote which toured the UK extensively, giving him considerable additional exposure.
In Spring 2008 he was in Christopher Luscombe’s production of Alan Bennett’s play Single Spies. He played opposite Nigel Havers. Ryder also played Romeo in Michael Bogdanov’s production of Romeo and Juliet. Sara Lloyd-Gregory played Juliet.
In October 2008, Ryder joined The Archers as Ryan.
In 2009, he played the photographer Laurence in the West End production of Calendar Girls at the Noël Coward Theatre. He was also the assistant director. Ryder currently continues as associate director of Calendar Girls, responsible for all theater productions world-wide.
In December 2010 Ryder wrote and directed his first short film, an adaptation of Mary Grace Dembeck’s short story Act of Memory starring Claire Skinner, Owen Teale and Anna Massey. The film was shot on location in London and went on to be screened at the Cannes film festival in 2011.
In 2013 Ryder became Associate Director of the stage play The Full Monty by Simon Beaufoy. The play opened at the Lyceum Theater in Sheffield.
In 2014 Ryder directed his second short film DOG and in July of 2015 directed his first red button episode of CASUALTY for the BBC
Ryder continues his relationship with The Full Monty as the director of the new touring production starring Gary Lucy which tours the UK in the autumn of 2015 and through into 2016.
Ryder also acts as a literary consultant to David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers, the West End and Broadway theater producers
