John Stamos

John Stamos

I wasn’t a John Stamos fan as a kid, but I’ve grown to like him as I’ve gotten older. I don’t know why I didn’t like him long ago. Maybe the perfect hair drove me crazy. He seemed a bit too Chachi-like for my tastes.

John Stamos was born on August 19, 1963 in California and I think he’s one of the most talented guys around. There are some teen idols who are teen idols just because they look good. There are some teen idols who get recording contracts only because they’re teen idols. Think of all those records that were put out by people who couldn’t sing. Names that come to mind are Chris Knight (aka Peter Brady), Danny Bonaduce, Scott Baio, Kristy McNichol, and many others. I don’t think John Stamos is a great singer, but he’s not horrible and he is very talented.

Blackie & Uncle Jesse

John Stamos began his career when he landed the part of Blackie Parrish on the soap opera General Hospital. He became VERY popular on that show and then went on to the short lived series Dreams. I don’t know what that show was about but I know it had Cain Devore in it. John was on another sitcom after Dreams that I do remember watching called You Again. John played Jack Klugman’s son on the show. The show was on for two seasons before it was canceled. Bummer.

Stamos did a really bad movie in 1986 called Never Too Young to Die with Vanity (Prince’s girlfriend) and Gene Simmons. My friend was in this movie (she was Vanity’s double) and said that John was really nice to her. She used to give him shoulder massages. Lucky! I want to touch John Stamos. My friend said that the director and the producer of the movie got into a fist fight right in front of her and John grabbed her and pulled her out of the way. He’s a hero.

Stamos then went and landed his biggest role to date as Uncle Jesse on Full House. I love that show and watch it pretty much every morning. He apparently wasn’t typecast as he did a ton of stuff after Full House, including ER and Glee. He’s also done Broadway shows such as Bye Bye Birdie, Nine, Cabaret, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Why is that title so long? He continues to play drums and whatever else with The Beach Boys. He’s part of the Netflix run of Fuller House. He’s a cool dude. I like him.

Drunk

John made the news a few years back when he showed up on an Australian talk show plastered. Perhaps he shouldn’t have been drunk on the show, but I thought he was funny. I was thinking he would be someone who I’d want to hang out with. He wanted to tell the truth about him being drunk, but all of his publicity people told him to say that he was jet-legged. He was jet-lagged and was on sleeping pills, but he was also drunk. Hey, John. Don’t mix alcohol with sleeping pills. I think. I don’t know. I’m afraid to have even an aspirin if I have a drink. I’m a sissy.

It had been rumored that John Stamos would replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Charlie said that would be a tragic joke. I think Charlie is a tragic joke. (There were also rumors that Rob Lowe would replace Charlie.) Ashton Kutcher ended up with that role.

Trivia

John Stamos and his wife Caitlin McHugh welcomed their first child on April 15 of this year. Stamos recently admitted that he almost masturbated to Fuller House while visiting a fertility clinic. That almost seems like incest.

So, yeah. I wasn’t a Stamos fan in the early 80’s when he first started appearing in Tiger Beat and Bop and all those magazines. I kind of became a fan once Full House started. Seeing him on Ellen was when I became a really big fan. (I LOVE Ellen!) He just seems like a cool and fun guy. I also think he’s going to get hotter the older he gets. Let’s wait and see. I bet I’m right.  I usually am.  Just ask my boyfriend.
