Alfonso Ribeiro
I watched Alfonso Ribeiro win Dancing with the Stars four or five years ago. I had stopped watching that show but watched it that season specifically to see Alfonso. Although the second place winner was good, I truly felt Alfonso deserved to win. He was the better dancer. He looked like a pro to me and he was older and hurt. Alfonso didn’t act like a baby and whine like some of the other contestants I’ve seen in years past. He was a trooper and I’m so glad he won.
I have been a fan of Alfonso Ribeiro for many decades now. I first became a fan when he appeared with Ricky Schroder in Silver Spoons back in the 80’s. He then went on to play one of my most favorite characters ever. Alfonso portrayed Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air from 1990-1996. I have laughed hard and often at Carlton. He’s just so stupid. You can’t help but laugh.
The Carlton Life
Alfonso Ribeiro was born in the Bronx on September 21, 1971. He began his career at the age of eight when he had a leading role in the Broadway show The Tap Dance Kid. It was from that show that Michael Jackson snagged him for that adorable Pepsi commercial in 1984. After that came his gig on Silver Spoons and then to Fresh Prince.
Alfonso Ribeiro is married to beautiful Angela Unkrich. They have two sons (Alfonso has a daughter from a previous marriage) and they are expecting a third child next year.
In addition to acting and dancing and singing, Alfonso has done some game show hosting. He seems to be good at everything, but he will always be Carlton Banks to me. He is currently the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Tom Bergeron finally quit after a billion years). It doesn’t really matter what Alfonso does. He’s always Carlton to me. I love Carlton. Can you do the Carlton dance?
