Britney Spears Unhinged

Hello! Thanks for joining me for Britney Spears Unhinged!  This is the third installment in my Britney Spears blog story. Britney Spears Beginnings covers her birth to just before she hit it super big. Britney Spears Explosion covers the years 1999 through 2002. This newest installment, Britney Spears Unhinged, takes off from there.

Britney Spears breaking up with Justin Timberlake is about the time I remember things getting a little weird with her. I always thought that breaking up with Justin triggered something in her. She went a little cuckoo after that breakup. She kissed Madonna (like open mouth) at the MTV awards. I remember them showing Justin’s face. His face looked like I felt. WTF?

Marriages

A few months later, Britney married Jason Alexander (no, not that one) in Vegas. The marriage lasted a few days (55 hours) before being annulled.  Later that year, she became engaged to Kevin Federline. What in the trailer park hell is going on? The couple even had their own reality show which means they were destined to break up. The couple married in September of 2004.

A year later (September 2005), Britney had her first child, Sean. In February 2006, pictures were shown of Britney driving around with her infant child on her lap. OMG! What is this? The 60’s! I guess it’s not safe and shame on her, but many people grew up that way and survived just fine. Later that year she posed nude in a magazine. What happened to sweet little girl Britney? A second child arrived in September 2006 and she filed for divorce in November 2006. Sounds about right.

A few months later (February 2007), Brit stayed in a rehab center for less than a day. The next day she shaved her head and allegedly got a bunch of tattoos. She went back to rehab the following week. The MTV kiss is what triggered her whackadoodle behavior for me, but I think the rest of the world got on board when she shaved her head.

Britney was hospitalized in January 2008 after police arrived at her house and noticed she was under the influence.  Committed to the psych ward under a 5150 hold, Brit lost custody of her kids. The court gave permanent conservatorship to her dad (which means he’s in control of all her assets). Britney stayed five days in the psych ward this time.

Britney began healing (I think) and started to rebuild. She became a judge in 2012 on The X Factor. Our girl began a two-year residency in Vegas on December 27, 2013. She also released a new album, her eighth one. In September of 2014, Britney announced that her Vegas residency was extended for two more years. Yay, Brit!

2019

Everything seemed to be going along great until January 2019 when her father fell ill. Britney checked herself into a psych facility in March that year to take care of herself. There are rumors that Spears had been held against her will in the facility. Remember, the dad has conservatorship of Brit and can basically run her life. There was a new hearing in May for her conservatorship.  Britney stated in court (according to TMZ) that she was forced into that mental health facility. Wow. That’s like some Jerry Springer stuff right there.

I really like Britney Spears. I don’t know much about her music but I liken her character to one of my sports teams. With my sports teams, there are years that are wonderful and successful. Then there are years of failure and rebuilding (learning lessons) which in turn create new and wonderful winning seasons. At 37 years of age, Britney Spears has gone through a lot of winning seasons along with a few rebuilding years.  This girl does not give up.  Here’s to many more winning seasons ahead for Ms. Britney Spears.
