Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff

Who is Hilary Duff? Yeah, I didn’t know either. Is she a singer or an actress? I’ve heard of her because I have her pinups in my eBay store, but I didn’t really know anything about her. I kept thinking she was a young kid, but I was wrong. My bad. Time really goes by fast when you get old. Hilary is actually in her 30’s now. What?! Wikipedia describes her as a singer, actor, author, songwriter, producer, and designer. The girl can do it all.

The Beginning

Hilary Erhard Duff was born in Houston, Texas on September 28, 1987. She and her older sister, Haley, were into performing from a young age. Dad was a partner in a chain of convenience stores and Mom was a homemaker/stage mom. Mom and the girls packed their bags and left Texas in 1993 to pursue the dream in California. Dad stayed behind in Houston to manage the stores.

Hilary Duff got small parts pretty quickly after moving to California. She was going to be one of the kids in the series Daddio but her part was dropped. Hilary was pretty depressed over this and was thinking about quitting acting. A week later, she got the part of Lizzie McGuire.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Hilary Duff became a teen idol with her role in Lizzie McGuire. The ratings were big and she became a household name. While Lizzie McGuire was a hit, Hilary was off making movies and starting her music career. What an exciting time that must have been in her life.

Trivia

Feud with Faye

Duff was chosen to perform in the remake of Bonnie and Clyde around 2010. Faye Dunaway threw shade saying that Hilary wasn’t a real actress. C’mon, Faye. Really? I know old people feel like they can say whatever they want, but that’s not cool. Duff replied with “I think it was a little unnecessary but I might be mad if I looked like that now, too.” Duff has also said, “I have a little bitch in me.” Yes, that’s correct. Play nice, ladies. BTW, I’m pretty sure that remake never happened. If it did, I know Duff wasn’t in it. She was paid to leave when she got pregnant. Something like that.

After the birth of her son, Duff took a healthy amount of time taking the baby weight off. She did it by eating right and exercising. I don’t know how these other celebrities have their body back the next day after giving birth. It’s like magic. Hilary’s slow and steady method is the healthy way to go. Kudos.

Accomplishments

Hilary Duff has over 70 acting credits to her name. She has most recently portrayed Kelsey Peters in the TV show Younger. She is portraying Sharon Tate in the movie The Haunting of Sharon Tate. Hilary Duff has released five studio albums, two live albums, and 19 singles. Her last studio album, Breathe In, Breathe Out (2015), debuted in the top five.

Hilary Duff appears to be the real deal. Suck on that, Faye Dunaway. I love that she’s close to her mom and admits to having a little bitch in her. I also think it speaks volumes that she didn’t have to be skinny the day after giving birth. She went the healthy route and didn’t worry about being Hollywood perfect. I like this chick. I wish her many more years of success.
