Jessica Simpson

I’ve just finished reading Open Book by Jessica Simpson. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Jessica Simpson, but I did know of her when she was doing her Newlyweds show with Nick Lachey. I was sad when they got divorced and I secretly wished they’d get back together and live happily ever after. That of course didn’t happen and I kind of forgot all about her until she wrote her memoir.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for this woman. She went through a lot and truly seems like a good person. There were many times in this book where her heart would shine. It wasn’t written so that she could look like a good person. That feeling just appeared from her honest words. I don’t think you can read this book and not come out a Jessica Simpson fan.

Jessica Facts

• Born in Abilene, Texas on July 10, 1980.
• Jessica auditioned for The All New Mickey Mouse Club but was not given a spot. She lost out to people like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
• She beat out Britney Spears for the role of Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard remake in 2005.
• Jessica was a cheerleader in junior high school.
• Jessica is the older sister to Ashlee Simpson.
• Shares the same birthday with American Pie’s Thomas Ian Nicholas.
• Her 25th birthday party was celebrated at her parent’s house. Some of the celebrities in attendance were Mandy Moore, Seth Green, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
• Was close to playing the lead role in Coyote Ugly but turned it down when they refused to remove the sex scene.
• Justin Berfield of Malcolm in the Middle bought the mansion when she and Nick Lachey divorced.
• Jessica has three children with her second husband, Eric. She has a daughter named Maxwell, a son named Ace, and another daughter named Birdie Mae.

Things I Learned from Open Book

• Sexually abused by a family friend starting at age 6. I love the story she tells of how she finally got up enough courage to tell her parents.
• She took diet pills for a long time because the exec of her record company thought she needed to lose weight. What does weight have to do with singing? Did anyone tell Aretha to slim down?
• Has a special relationship with Willie Nelson. I love this so much.
• John Mayer is a pyscho.
• Was drunk on Ellen.
• Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are very cool chicks.

 

Jessica Simpson is a sweet person who appears to be very open and honest. I’m a fan. Do yourself a favor and read Open Book.
