Ralph Macchio

My favorite part of Karate Kid is when he wax off. Wait. What? Daniel-san. Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.

Ralph Macchio was a very successful teen actor with some decent acting chops but unfortunately for him, he will forever be known as Daniel LaRusso from The Karate Kid.

Ralph Macchio was born on November 4, 1961 in Long Island. He did some commercials early on and a movie. It was his role of Jeremy Welsh in the sitcom Eight is Enough that started getting him the pinups in the teen magazines and the looks from the junior high girls.

SIDE NOTE: I had a boyfriend who named his thingy “Ralph”. Ralph is a penis.

After Eight is Enough, Ralph (Wally the one-eyed wonder wiener) starred as Johnny Cade in The Outsiders.  That was a groovy movie that featured a lot of current, former, and still unknown teen idols. In addition to Ralph (shake weight), that movie also starred Leif Garrett, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Tommy Howell, Diane Lane, and Matt Dillon.

Ralph (pink oboe) was a hit with the little teenage girls during his Eight is Enough/Outsiders days. He started appearing on the covers of Bop, 16, Tiger Beat, Teen Beat, and more. His one page pinups soon became two and four page centerfold posters. He was a pretty big star and about to get even bigger.

Those who hadn’t heard of Ralph (one eyed milk man) soon knew of this man-child when a movie called The Karate Kid came out in 1984. I love any type of sports movie that has an exciting happy ending. Brian’s Song with James Caan was not happy. Rudy with Sean Astin is exciting and happy at the end. The Champ with Ricky Schroder did not make me happy at the end. It made me cry. The Karate Kid with Ralph (gigglestick) has a happy ending. It doesn’t seem like Ralph (flesh trumpet) was very coordinated or athletic. Maybe that’s why the movie works. The tiny little boy with no muscle at all who can barely walk without falling down beats up the big strong boys with his karate moves. Okay.

KARATE KID TRIVIA: The yellow car that Mr. Miyagi gives Daniel (it was one he polished in the wax on/wax off segment) was actually a gift to Ralph (joystick) given to him by the producer of the movie. Ralph (Magic Johnson) still owns it.

Ralph (spunk stick) did movies after Karate Kid but I don’t remember any of them. I think he got those roles because of his popularity, but he was always Daniel LaRusso after Karate Kid. He competed and came in fourth during the 2011 season of Dancing with the Stars.  I follow Ralph (doughnut holder) on Twitter and he’s a cool guy. He filmed a hilarious intervention spoof called Wax On, F**K Off. He’s funny. He’s over 50 and still looks like a little boy. Yay, Ralph! Yay, purple headed yogurt shooter!
